Make a Noise for Play Festival

The Make a Noise for Play Festival took place on 6 July 2011 in Cardiff as part of the IPA world conference. The Festival was an event for children and conference delegates to enjoy one afternoon of unadulterated noisy mayhem during the conference.

There was a range of play opportunities – the following provided play opportunities at the festival:

  • Cardiff Play Services - den building and willow sculpting
  • Vale of Glamorgan Play team - tuff spots
  • Re-create - scrap music workshop
  • Play Right - Playbus activities
  • Chwarae Plant (and partners) - sensory area and water play
  • Torfaen Play Services - clay workshop and group games
  • Cardiff Music Service - music circles
  • Three Counties Play Project - face painting, belly dancing and creative play
  • North West Wales Play Forum/NEW Play Forum (and partners) - self-build
  • Dynamix - group games and leading the procession of adult delegates to the festival
  • Meynell Games - Ringworld
  • Sutcliffe Play - SNUG kit
  • Ezeeeplay Children’s Services/Play On The Move Ltd - Playbus
  • Play Torbay - Funk in the Bay quest (ʻlooking for the lost dragonʼ)
  • Bristol Scrapstore - loose parts
  • Maverick Industries - slacklining

Together we celebrated the role of play and play provision in making sure we have happy, healthy, resilient children in our communities.

The event highlighted the importance of children’s right to play and showcase playwork from across Wales and the UK. This was a unique opportunity (possibly once in a lifetime chance) for playworkers from across Wales and the UK to work together to facilitate such an event.
